happy birthday melissa! it's officially january 19th and you are 23 years old! pictures of her birthday party may be seen here. we had a potluck dinner, cake, and board games! parker is board game king. we played hilarium, catch phrase, cranium, and more catch phrase. so much silliness and fun! it was fantastic. hilarium is the most chaotic and wackiest game. i want one. :D it's on my list...right after scene it. anywho...it was so much fun to hang out with the "dorm friends." we only get together once every few months as a group to hang out, eat, rehash funny stories, and catch up. it's really nice. it makes me miss living in lander 8 and being able to walk across, or down, the hall to hang out with all of them. we should definitely try and do this more often.

go see chasing liberty, not because it's thought provoking, or even profound, but just because it's cute and fun - a jr. chick flick. [and because it has a charming british guy in it - who doesn't love charming british guys?]

happy new year kids. photos are back on the web. please visit turbosprocket to see lots of pictures.
yes, turbosprocket.com is that very web domain of my very own i promised to unveil. why turbosprocket? well, because sprocket with .com, .org, etc were all taken. why did i have to have sprocket in the domain name? because it's a fun word to say. say it out loud now. in a command borrowed from wendy, "do it. do it. do it now." sprock-et. isn't that fun to say? so i had to find a word to put with sprocket. it was tough; words like "i," "tiny," "angry," "mini," etc were all considered and in the end, "turbo" was victorious. why? i dunno...maybe in part because i talk rapidly...possibly also because i can pee quickly. who knows...
new year's eve was pretty fun. my original plan was to stay at home and watch movies because it was butt-cold outside, plus i didn't feel like going out. but, i was convinced to stray from my plan. david kunugi and wendy were like, "but we'll only have to be outside in pioneer square for like 30 minutes until the countdown. we'll go at 11:30pm." so i was like...ok. we had dinner at red robin's and then decided to take MAX to the zoo transit center to meet up with more friends. as we're waiting for the MAX, we saw a group of people on the other side of the platform that david knew from high school and all of a sudden, three policemen crossed the tracks [which by the way, read "DO NOT CROSS"] to talk to one guy. then, as we were boarding, the guy got cuffed and then david says, "hey, i think a guy from our high school [that we both knew]." at the zoo stop, our friends were waiting with their cars, but parking wasn't allowed by yet more policemen. they circled and in the end decided to just drive downtown and park there. we decided to MAX it downtown and meet them there.
everybody gets downtown, and it was only 10pm. [that's still two full hours until countdown.] it was very, very, very cold and it started to rain. we bought starbucks hot chocolate and ate elephant ears. and still, only five minutes until 11pm. because we're not down with freezing, we decided that somewhere, like in the next time zone over, it is close to midnight. so, we did our own 10, 9, 8, etc countdown at 10:59:50pm and yell, "happy new year" when it hits 11pm. we decided to watch a movie at david's house and be warm. as we the doors of the MAX open, guess who we see? our friend from high school! he was on his way back to the transit center from detox. it was pretty darn funny. he told us how he slid down to the platform rather than used the stairs, which attracted the police, who noticed he was intoxicated in public. there was a mom and her son who were overhearing and the mom was totally laughing. then our friend is like, "hey little man, don't get sent to detox." the little boy was like, "mommy, what's detox?" and his mom laughed and told him that detox is where they send people who've had too much to drink...or something like that. hahahaha. anywho...pictures can be found here.
