i'm such the tool. i drove out to issaquah this morning to go to work, and it turns out, i had the day off. i mixed up my days off and had to do some creative schedule shifting so that i can go to portland next weekend as planned. well, at least i woke up early, otherwise i'd probably still be sleeping. and i went to target and got free batteries with my REDvantage target visa. i love the target. get a target visa because you get free stuff weekly and they give money back to schools of your choice. yay!

in addition, i played volleyball for like 4.5 hours yesterday. my team's league played at 5:30PM and we weren't great. it was a bad day all around. then one of the teams in the next league that started at 7:30PM was short a girl player so they asked if any of us could stay and play. i volunteered. and i'm paying for it now because everything hurts. it was really fun playing with the team in the upper division and they were all super good. i totally could not hang with them, but they let me play anyway. how nice.

last week my car was having problems starting. i was hoping it would go away, but instead, it became a more frequent problem. i took it in to have it checked, and of course i need a new starter and a new battery. at least now, the car does start beautifully.

i watched a new show on bravo, manhunt (the guys version of america's next top model) with christine, kelvin, and isabel. i have never seen so many guys just begging to be mocked mercilessly. the egos on this show know no bounds, plus these guys are so cheesy and smarmy. now, of course, we're hooked.

the ringing in my ears has decreased, but sadly, i think i'm sick. my throat is all closed up and it hurts to swallow. this can not be a good sign. bah. but today was my birthday. i got cards, text messages, voicemails, verbal birthday wishes, etc. it was nice. my bank, washington mutual, sent me a birthday card too. and, the tellers at the local greenwood branch signed it. how weird/nice is that? i enjoyed a lovely potluck dinner with my 2:7 Bible study group and then a tea time/happy hour with "the family."

i think the best part was getting voicemails from my mom and dad. normally, my parents tend to forget our birthdays until we remind them. so this is the first year since i've been away from home that my dad has called to say "happy birthday" without me calling home first to remind him. it's the best present i could ask for.

i'm exhausted. making efforts to be hip and young is so tiring. i truly am an old lady.

friday night, siobhan and i were determined to go out for happy hour, even though we were both tired after watching eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. we went to mccormick's fish house on 4th and james street. we left a little after midnight, a fact of which we were quite proud, though by most standards, this was an early night.

i had saturday off from work, thank you issaquah salmon days. i slept in and shiv and i made lunch - a yakisoba experiment - and i then i made her watch walking tall. and she liked it. ha. later i went to barnes and noble and browsed for books. being around and near books is quite relaxing. i met up with heidi and sherwin for dinner near chinatown, at this japanese restaurant that was so good. we loved it! then i went and had coffee with pam in west seattle where we chatted and planned. it was a full day of activity.

sunday, i slept in again - thank you SFCC for having noon services. it was our annual church/members meeting with voting and stuff like that. i used to like these meetings, and then one year, there was some heated arguing and i decided that i do not like church politics and these types of meetings. the last two years have been without fanfare, so it's not too bad. i had to duck out before they were officially finished to make it to my volleyball game. another season has started and it's fun. i am, however, really, really sore. later, i went to dinner with grace, joe, siobhan, chong, amy, june, and mike at azteca. it was nice having grace in town to catch up and hang out, and of course, joe too :)

last night, some of us went out to graceland to support the audio biography, rockstar abe's band. they played with autumn sonata, cody who, and headliners the four colour process [i'm pretty sure the guitar player was in a few of my spanish classes at UW]. it was a fun show and as a result, i think that i might have sustained some serious hearing damage. i'm still hearing ringing in my ears. i'm also sure last night was the first time graceland had seen that many asians.

and today, i bought aladdin on DVD and received a free abu plush toy, not to be confused with apu, the squishie man from the simpsons.

lastly, steamed buns. say it out loud. it's funny.
